Job Summary

W e a re seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Electrical Designer to join our engineering team. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong foundation in electrical design and drafting, who thrives in dynamic project environments. The Electrical Designer will be responsible for creating and integrating electrical systems and layouts for industrial projects, including substations, motor control systems, and power distribution.

Job Description

• Apply the National Electrical Code (NEC) to all designs and layouts.
• Size wire, conduit, cable tray, and overcurrent protection devices.
• Perform voltage drop, fill, and lighting level calculations.
• Design cable tray and conduit routing layouts, lighting, grounding, and heat tracing plans.
• Develop 480V one-line diagrams, Motor control schematics, Panel board, MCC, and heat tracing schedules and Bulk material schedules and material take-offs (MTO)
• Design and layout substations, transformer yards, bus duct systems, and integrate these with overall site plot plans and 3D models.
• Generate installation details using vendor equipment documentation.
• Participate in substation fabrication inspections, verifying compliance with approved designs.
• Conduct site surveys to support initial layouts and as-built documentation.
• Create 2D electrical drawings and layouts using AutoCAD and AVEVA/E3D.
• Develop to-scale substation layouts and elevation drawings.
• Integrate electrical systems into overall project models and 3D environments.
• Produce IFD, IFC, and As-built drawing packages in accordance with drafting standards and company procedures.

S kills Required

• Minimum 10 years of electrical design and drafting experience in industrial or EPC environments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, AVEVA/E3D and NavisWorks is required
• Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Education

• Associate’s degree in Engineering, Computer-Aided Drafting Technology, or equivalent experience.

Pay Rate

• $40 per hour and higher depending on experience

Additional Details

• Experience in the design of prefabricated substations and modular equipment is preferred.
• Background in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) environments is a plus.
