Frontend Engineer
Active Secret Clearance preferred
Hybrid-within commutable to Northern VA/DCA

Nationwide IT Services, NIS, is seeking a Frontend Engineer for a potential opportunity. In this position, the Engineer will be responsible for the following: 

• Build responsive, component-based UIs using React (or Angular/Vue) that interact with complex backend APIs.
• Prototype mockups or wireframes for stakeholder presentations and reviews.
• Create a comprehensive and unified library of UI components that can be utilized for all future development and can be modified for specific use cases.
• Perform functional and integration testing of UI components and workflows using modern testing tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, Mocha/Chai, etc.
• Write frontend code that integrates with government authentication standards (e.g., CAC/PIV smart cards, Login.gov, or OAuth2 in a FedRAMP environment).
• Building interfaces that are responsive to all screen sizes and aligned with Government 508 Compliance requirements.
• Ensure UI works with screen readers (JAWS/NVDA), keyboard navigation, and color contrast before QA.

Primary Objectives: Assist in the Discovery Phase activities of gathering user requirements, business analysis, legacy system analysis, Epic/Story creation, external data integration planning, and product backlog management.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active Secret Clearance Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of designing and developing user interfaces using React or React Native.
• Familiarity with modern design tools such as Figma.
