Job Title: Production Planner Scheduler

Position Summary:

The Production Planner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving production schedules and inventory management processes to ensure products are manufactured and delivered on time to meet customer demand. This role requires strong coordination across departments, effective use of ERP systems, and the ability to balance priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in ERP systems, production planning, inventory control, and document management.

  • Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, including the ability to read and interpret bills of materials (BOMs) and routings.

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to motivate and collaborate effectively.

  • Analytical problem-solving and conceptual thinking skills.

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • High attention to detail, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to maintain positive internal and external relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and adjust daily production schedules and inventory plans.

  • Create, release, adjust, and close job orders to align with schedule requirements.

  • Monitor inventory levels, production plans, and capacity needs; implement actions to meet business demands.

  • Serve as the internal ERP systems expert and provide support across departments.

  • Coordinate material flow between purchasing, warehouse, production, engineering, and shipping/receiving to ensure timely availability.

  • Track material quality, manage expiring materials, and resolve material issues using standard processes.

  • Prepare and issue sub-operation purchase orders; verify counts and collaborate with purchasing and shipping.

  • Provide regular updates to management on production status, material availability, and potential issues.

  • Continuously identify opportunities for process and efficiency improvements.

  • Ensure effective communication and follow-up with all stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in low-volume, high-mix, or made-to-order manufacturing environments.

  • Familiarity with steel fabrication processes.

  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.

This is a Permanent position based out of Owatonna, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
