Job Description



AECOM  is seeking a mid-level Structural Engineer to be based in our New York Metro office to support our Building and Places group that is focused on Transportation. This position will perform site visits to observe and report on construction activities and address field questions as well as coordinate design and construction issues.

The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the following items: 

  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Identifies discrepancies in results.
  • Provides guidance to entry-level engineers.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete the primary design elements for engineering works.

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering or related discipline plus four (4) year of relevant experience in structural design of buildings and transportation structures or demonstrated equivalency of experience/education.
  • Professional experience with ETABS or SAP.
  • Must be able to perform site visits.

Preferred

Qualifications

:
  • ​PE License in the state of New York or New Jersey or the ability to obtain the license within 12 months of employment.
  • Experience working with transit authorities; Amtrak, MTA, and PANYNJ.
  • Masters in Structural Engineering with ten plus years of experience.
  • Experience with condition assessments and state of good repairs. 
  • Specific software experience in RAM Structural, AutoCAD, SAFE, TEDDS, MathCAD, SpecsIntact, spColumn, spBeam, spWall and Enercalc.
  • Revit & MicroStation experience is highly desirable.
