As a result of recent new multi-year VHA contracts awarded, Cooper Thomas, LLC, a leading provider of medical coding, auditing, and training services to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), has up to five (5) immediate openings for DoD experienced Full-Time Outpatient Medical Coders who are looking for a change and to escape the effects of Government shutdowns and the impact on your career and would like to learn to code for VA. Positions available as a W-2 with no benefits as well as a W-2 with benefits. Applicants must have at least 2 years of medical coding experience. Flexible schedule within the confines of a Monday-Sunday work week. You must be able to pass an initial entrance exam and must be a US citizen. This work will be performed remotely in your home office.
Qualifications
· Must be able to perform the full scope of multi-specialty OP clinic, ED, minor procedures, radiology, rehabilitation, and lab encounters utilizing ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
· At least three (3) years of DoD or other relevant coding experience, either as a DoD employee or with another Government contractor supporting DoD
· Must produce copies of and maintain active credentials as a certified coder
· Familiar with E/M leveling for OP and ED visits using coding guidelines
· Familiar with E/M calculator and ability to use this tool proficiently
· Familiar with 3M Encoder for ICD10 and CPT coding
· Knowledge in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pathology and disease processes, pharmacology, health record format and content, reimbursement methodologies and conventions, rules and guidelines for current classification systems (ICD, CPT, HCPCS).

· Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
· Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)
· Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA)
Minimum Education
· High School Diploma or equivalent
